Trim Healthy Mama's Singing Canary

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

If you are looking for an adrenal fatigue fighting, immune boosting nutrition boost, you NEED to make this drink. Don’t be put off by the number of ingredients, once you have them all put out on the bench it is a breeze to make. Your belly and your taste buds will thank you.

This recipe is taken from the Trim Healthy Mama’s free recipe archives. Please show the Trim Healthy Mama’s some love by following them on social media for more fabulous recipes. * The gorgeous sisters had included lemon essential oil in their original recipe and I have added tumeric essential oil as well. The oils and whole fruit and spice compliment each other nicely. If you would like to learn more about the health benefits of using BOTH whole food and essential oils then please check out this blog post.

INGREDIENTS :

2 lemons 340 g water 1 tsp tumeric powder 1 tsp protein powder (plain whey protein isolate works best) 1 tsp integral collagen 1 pinch mineral salt 1 splash of vanilla extract 2 donks pure stevia extract powder or liquid, adjusted to taste 3 drops of doTERRA lemon essential oil 3 drops of doTERRA tumeric essential oil 2000 mg vitamin C powder Ice cubes

METHOD :

Peel the yellow rind off the lemons using a sharp paring knife, leaving as much of the white pith as possible (bioflavonoids in the pith are a healing component).

Slice each lemon into 4 chunks, remove the seeds, and throw the lemon pieces into your blender along with the water. Blend well.

Add all the other ingredients except the ice cubes, and blend really well.

Fill a large drinking jar with ice and then pour the blended lemon mixture over the ice. If it doesn’t reach the top, add remaining water until it does. Put a tight lid on the jar and shake it like you are a professional drink mixer. Uncap and adjust the flavor to “own it.”

Notes from Gracious Goodness :

When you first start drinking Singing Canaries you may find that you want to add quite a bit of stevia to offset the strong tart effect of the lemon pith and turmeric and to balance the salt. You will find that your taste buds will acclimatise and the more you drink, the less sweetner you will need. If your Canary has too much bite, add more sweetener and/or vanilla and scale back on the turmeric next time.

Only ever use essential oils in your cooking that say they are safe for internal use on the label. These oils will have the Food Standards of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) tick of approval as a food additive.
